Belgorod State University expand cooperation with the Russian House in Syria

During the visit, the Director of International Cooperation Department of Belgorod State University Nikolay Tsybulya made a presentation of the educational programmes provided at Belgorod State University. Elena Nazarenko, the Deputy Head of Preparatory Department, and Darya Korobkova, an Associate Professor of the Department of Russian Language, Professional Speech and Intercultural Communication of the Institute of Intercultural Communication and International Relations, organised a series of seminars on Russian as a foreign language (RFL) teaching methods, conducted some master-classes for the citizens learning Russian language and presented an author's textbook for RKI teachers and several copies to the library of the Russian Centre for Science and Culture (RCSC).

As a result of the visit, the delegation of Belgorod State University and the RCSC administration agreed to develop cooperation in promotion of Russian language abroad including other educational projects. Preliminary contacts were made with Al-Baath University (Homs) leading to signing an agreement on academic and scientific cooperation.

The visit of Belgorod delegation to the Russian House in Syria was finalized by celebrating Russian Language Day, which coincided with Alexander Pushkin’s birthday. The best reciters of the great poet's poems were awarded with commemorative gifts. The citizen of Syria Firas Shbabo, the winner of the International Russian as a Foreign Language Competition “Time to speak Russian!” held at Belgorod State University in 2022 via videoconference, was also marked at the awarding ceremony. The event was attended by a BelSU residence student Mohamed Hussein, who also recited a poem by A.S. Pushkin and told the audience about his studies at Belgorod State University.
