International students of Belgorod State University visited the Centre for Traditional Culture and Crafts in Kupino village, Shebekino District, Belgorod region.
The Centre for Traditional Culture and Crafts consists of a local history museum, a peasant farmstead of the XIX century, and craft workshops. The museum halls are dedicated to the history, nature, archeology, ethnography of our region, the Great Patriotic War, folk crafts, vintage toys.
Foreign guests were impressed by the great number of museum exhibits and displays, as well as the opportunity to touch the antique items and try on the armor of Russian knights.
Special place in the Centre is occupied by the Memory Hall dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. Here the whole display is built around five soldier sculptures, symbolizing the memory of all those who never returned from the frontline laying down their lives for the country. The students also visited the weaving and pottery workshops as master-classes participants.
In the pottery workshop everyone participated in hand modelling, which is no less popular than the potter's wheel. At the peasant farmstead young people had a chance to shoot a crossbow and master stilts. The tour ended with a meal of porridge and tea.
All the participants enjoyed the visit to the Centre for Traditional Culture and Crafts.
