The Head of the Centre for Intellectual Sports of Belgorod State University, international grandmaster Alexander Ivanov participated in the International Chess Day Tournament held in the Lugansk People's Republic.
The tournament in the Lugansk People's Republic attended by chess players aged 10-70 was supported by Moscow Chess Federation.
Artem Akhmetov, the international master and the Executive Director of Moscow Chess Federation, and the international grandmasters Boris Savchenko and Alexander Ivanov, played simultaneously in the cities of Lugansk, Starobelsk and Stanitsa Luganskaya. In each city over 50 chess players attended the tournament.
All the game participants received autographed chess sets, and the best players in each game were presented with a chess clock. The chess sets and chess clocks were presented by the grandmasters to 11 children's and youth sport schools of the Lugansk People's Republic.
According to Alexander Ivanov, such tournaments have become a good tradition.
“In January 2018 I held master-classes and made simultaneous displays in some Donetsk secondary schools and sports schools, and this year my colleagues and I have held this wonderful tournament”, commented the international grandmaster.
