Students and lecturers of BelSU Medical Institute were involved in planting trees and shrubs on a school territory to mark Town Day.
Members of the “Medical Volunteers” group including Medical Institute students Maria Erokhina, Anna Khodyachikh, Zakhra Babaeva and Victoria Kotlyarova, as well Alexandra Melnichenko, a doctoral student of the Department of Healthcare Management and Public Health, participated in the We Belong Together! “Our Footprint on the Earth” Green Volunteers Campaign. The group of volunteers from Belgorod State University was headed by Svetlana Gorelik, Professor of Medical Institute.
The environmental campaign, timed to coincide with Town Day, was held in the context of the “Gerontological Education of Primary Schoolers” international project, which is aimed at cultivating love and respect for the older generation. Methodological support was provided by BelSU Ageing Issues Laboratory.
As part of the event the volunteers planted trees and landscaped the grounds of Gymnasium No.5 of Belgorod. Together with the students of Belgorod State University the seedlings were planted by 4A class schoolchildren and their parents as well as members of the “Silver Volunteers of Belgorod Region” volunteer organization.
As Svetlana Gorelik noted, the representatives of different age groups participated in the campaign, which helps to strengthen communication between generations.
