The first popular science lecture in this academic year has been given to junior medical students at the Institute of Cross-Cultural Communication and International Relations of Belgorod State National Research University.
Al-Kaabi Mustafa Basim, teaching assistant of the Department of Biochemistry, resident student of the Medical Institute, head of Iraqi students’ community, gave a lecture on the pressing issue "Prevention and treatment of COVID-19" in English.
According to the speaker, vaccines against COVID-19 provide a reliable protection, preventing a severe course of the disease and risks of hospitalization and death from coronavirus. The vaccine also “teaches” the body to recognize the virus, and in case of infection, the immune system will be ready to fight it.
Elena Nazarenko, the curator of the community of Arab countries, says that residents of the medical institute are actively engaged in research work and are equally proactive in educational activities. Elena notes that foreign students have been taking the initiative in conducting medical lectures at the university for many years. Everyone can attend lectures, which are held both in Russian and in English languages, and expand their knowledge, for example, about infectious diseases or about the principles of proper nutrition. This experience is very important for all participants.
