The “naZUBAKH” project by students of Belgorod State University was the second at the StartuphouseUniversities competition of Innopolis University and included in the top 50 of the All-Russian Festival of University Technology Projects HSE Fest-2022.
The “naZUBAKH” project by Belgorod State University students on caries detection and bite detection with a game application for oral health status monitoring received two high marks: the development team took second place in the StartuphouseUniversities finals at Innopolis University, and in the finals of the All-Russian University Technology Project Festival HSE Fest the young scientists' project was in the top 50 best proposals.
According to the project leader, Danil Maklakov, a student of the Institute of Pharmacy, Chemistry and Biology at Belgorod State University, currently the kits for taking impressions of teeth at home have already been developed, making it possible to determine the presence and degree of caries and assess the correct bite in five minutes using a special mobile application.
The kit has been evaluated both by dental practitioners and dental manufacturers. It consists of special bite splint which are filled with a special compound and designed for taking impressions of the upper and lower jaw. All problematic areas are visible in the final result, due to bio-indicators that identify cariesogenic bacteria and change their colour where they accumulate.
This development should significantly reduce the workload of dentists and clinics in the long term.
The “naZUBAKH” project team will present its development at the II Young Scientists Congress, which will be held from 1-3 December 2022 at the Science and Arts Park on the Sirius federal campus in Sochi.
