BelSU Centre for Peoples' Friendship hosted the “Linguistic and Local History Sketches about Belgorod Region” event.
The meeting, organized in the context of the Year of Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia, was held in a mixed format. International students from the Institute for Intercultural Communication and International Relations, the Institute of Engineering and Digital Technologies, the Institute of Pharmacy, Chemistry and Biology joined the videoconference, while the Preparatory Department students gathered at the Centre for Peoples' Friendship.
Olga Lyutova, the Director of the Centre, and Anastasia Strzhalkovskaya, the curator of Uzbekistan and Vietnam student communities, told the international students about the history and significance of Belgorodskaya Cherta, and showed video films about tours to the branch of “Yablonov City-Fortress” Belgorod State Regional History Museum and the “Belgorodskaya Cherta - Muravsky Shlyakh” historical park.
During the event students got acquainted with Russian archaic words and toponyms used in Belgorod region. In a free discussion students tried to compare the ancient history of our region to the history of their countries, the logic of human settlements and fortifications building in different countries.
