A method for converting heat energy into electricity was awarded a high prize.
The IIDC 2022 International Inventions Exhibition was held in Hong Kong (the People's Republic of China). Belgorod State University was a traditional participant of the Russian display.
The gold medal of the exhibition was awarded to the scientific project by the team headed by Maxim Yaprintsev, a researcher of Belgorod State University Center for Shared Use. The research team invented a method to produce material for converting thermal energy into electrical energy, which is one of the most promising areas of alternative energy.
The bismuth telluride-based material, produced by the researchers, is characterized by 5-10% improved thermoelectric quality, which is a key property of thermoelectric materials. Besides, the essential competitive advantage of the material consists in a shorter technological cycle of its production.
The exhibition expert committee also noted the ecological focus of the development – the invention enables to solve the problem of waste-heat utilization and electric power generation, which can be harmful for environment in case of using traditional methods.
