The Charity Christmas Campaign “A Kind Word – A Kind Act” 2022 was finalized at Belgorod State University.
The charity campaign aimed to help children without parental support, orphans, disabled children, large low-income families, and lonely elderly people. Alexander Mamatov, the Vice-Rector for Education, addressed the event guests recollecting the origin of the marathon and volunteer movement at Belgorod State University.
During the Christmas campaign the citizens of Belgorod region helped 544 children, including 26 refugee children. Besides, 43 adults under the care of the Nursing Home of Russian Red Cross received support. The “A Kind Word – A Kind Act” campaign is held throughout the year. In 2022 it reached around 1,750 people in need.
The campaign is traditionally attended by lecturers and staff of Belgorod State University, residents of Belgorod and Belgorod region, social partners and sponsors. The annual results of the year were summed up at the New Year event, where a new campaign was launched to be continued in the upcoming year.
In 2022 over 4,800 students and employees of Belgorod State University volunteered to help Belgorod region citizens. As part of the campaign the university was also involved in over 200 events, helping veterans and children of the war, BelSU veteransy, mobilised members of armed forces, refugees, displaced people from the Ukraine and citizens of the region in need.
Performances by young artists – the representatives of children's creative groups from Belgorod State University and pupils from social rehabilitation institutions in Belgorod – added a special atmosphere to the festivities. At the end of the event all the children received presents, which they had wished in the letters addressed to Ded Moroz.
