The meeting with Anatoly Zelikov, an Honorary Citizen of Belgorod region, a member of the Russian Writers' Union, was held at Belgorod State University in Studencheskaya Street.
Students of Pedagogical Institute and the Institute of Social Sciences and Mass Communications, the representatives of the Rector’s Office, the university lecturers participated in the event, organized by BelSU Centre of Public and Political Education. The meeting was also attended by the representatives of Belgorod Region Branch of Russian Writers' Union, who are actively involved in the university projects under the “Prioritet-2030” Programme, including the key project on “Building Creative Spaces in the Youth Community”.
Professor Oleg Polukhin, the Rector of Belgorod State University, in his welcoming speech stressed the importance of face-to-face meetings with interesting people especially in today's realities. He shared his personal memories of Anatoly Zelikov, describing him as an outstanding person and a public figure. According to the Rector, in the 90s Anatoly Zelikov was the Head of the Regional Fund for Private Housing Construction, gaining a unique experience in Russia.
Anatoly Zelikov told the audience about his childhood, family, and how the Great Patriotic War influenced his character. The memories of homeland were the key message. According to the writer, a huge part of his life falls between two epochal events – the Great Patriotic War and the Special War Operation, when Russia is striving to defeat fascism and nationalism once again.
The university's guest also told interesting stories related to his professional career. Certainly he talked about his creative work. According to A. Zelikov, he indeed took great interest in writing during his well-deserved holiday.
Finally, Oleg Polukhin presented Anatoly Zelikov with a letter of gratitude and some gifts – books published by the university. Following the tradition, the meeting was crowned with a common memorable photo.
