A joint multicultural event was held at Belgorod State University, organised by the Institute of Engineering and Digital Technology and the Centre for Intercultural Communication.
Students from Russia and international students from different countries participated in the round table discussion. The representatives of Turkmenistan talked about their national symbol – a carpet. It has been declared a national treasure and has a special pattern of ornaments. Students from Iraq introduced the audience into their rich national cuisine, while students from Angola presented their national holidays and interesting traditions to celebrate. Columbians spoke about architectural constructions of their motherland of pre-colonial, colonial period and nowadays.
Students of Institute of Engineering and Digital Technology made presentations about home cities, where they lived before coming to study at Belgorod State University. The event participants were interested about the sights of Lugansk, as well as about the natural landscapes and the climate of Arkhangelsk region.
Irina Skripina, the Deputy Director for Social and Educational Work of the Institute of Engineering and Digital Technology, thanked all the participants for their presentations in the final round table dialogue. She noted the importance of such events, helping to introduce students to cultures and traditions of different countries, contribute to harmonization of interethnic relations and help to avoid conflicts in the future.
