In the new academic year the Institute of Intercultural Communication and International Relations will begin training Chinese language specialists in the field of Linguistics.
Currently, 16 foreign languages programs are provided by the Institute of Intercultural Communication and International Relations. Chinese language has been studied at BelSU for ten years as a second foreign language in three fields of study: “Translation and Translation Studies”, “Linguistics” and “International Relations”. 120 students are studying these programs at the moment. Due to the increased interest in Chinese language, it has been included in the institute’s curriculum as a major foreign language since the new academic year. Students specialized in linguistics will study the language.
According to Olga Prokhorova, the Director of the Institute, negotiations have been underway to open a joint Russian-Chinese institute with Dezhou University. This institute will enable Russian and Chinese students to study simultaneously in two countries and receive diplomas of both universities.
