The literary conference “Der Tag der Deutschen Sprache” was held at the Peoples' Friendship Centre as part of the series “Influencing Eternity”.
The conference participants included undergraduate and doctoral students from Russia, Colombia, Ecuador, studying at Pedagogical Institute, the Institute of Intercultural Communication and International Relations, the Institute of Economics and Management. Among the conference guests there were pupils of “Success Algorithm” Educational Complex and School No.4 of Belgorod.
Olga Lyutova, the Director of Peoples' Friendship Centre, noted the importance of preserving the language purity and reducing unjustified use of Briticisms in speech.
Natalia Borisova, the guest of the literary conference and the representative of Goethe Institute Library in Moscow, told about the long-standing partnership between educational institutions of Russia and Germany and demonstrated the possibilities of free use of ONLEIHE electronic library.
Oksana Kuzmina, the Head of the Department of Romano-Germanic Philology and Intercultural Communication, and Associate Professor Elena Sherstyukova told about professional German language courses provided at at Belgorod State University, the opportunities offered by the DAAD Foundation, and how to prepare for the international exam.
Anastasia Isayeva, a member of the Foreign Language Literature Department of Belgorod State Universal Scientific Library, presented a review of literature in German.
Gleb Kovalyov, the Chairman of BelSU International Student Office, told about German Conversation Club and invited everyone to join it.
Students of the Institute of Intercultural Communication and International Relations introduced the participants to the life and works of Joseph von Eichendorff, Heinrich Heine, Johann Wolfgang Goethe, Grimm Brothers and conducted a small quiz on German literature.
Students and lecturers of Pedagogical Institute and the Institute of Intercultural Communication and International Relations read lines from favourite works of German writers and poets in German.
The series of literary events will be followed by the event dedicated to Day of Kyrgyz Language and the 95th Anniversary of Chingiz Aitmatov.
