The event, held at Centre for Intercultural Communication in the context of the activities of the Centre for Social and Political Education, was attended by the 1st and 2nd year student activists and international students.
Among the event participants there were specialists of the Department of Tutorial Work and the Centre for Intercultural Communication, Olga Lyutova, the Director of Peoples' Friendship Centre, as well as Roman Travin, the Director of the Centre for Social and Political Education.
While opening the round table, Elena Trofimenko, the Head of the Department of Tutorial Work, noted that the university paid great attention to prevention of antisocial behaviour among student community, conducting a great number of activities aimed at preventing extremism and terrorism. She also introduced the event guest and the keynote speaker – Denis Sorochinskiy, an officer of the Centre for Counteraction to Extremism of Belgorod Region Ministry of Internal Affairs, a Lieutenant Colonel of Police.
Denis Sorochinskiy explained the “extremism” definition, spoke about its types, responsibilities, the activities of the institution that he represented. The speaker gave a number of examples of extremism that his colleagues and he personally had faced in their work.
While summing up the round table, Roman Travin focused on specific extremist behaviour in social networks and spoke about how extremist actions can be used for political gain.
