New exhibit items include more than 400 species of butterflies from different regions of our country, as well as from South America, Africa and Asia.
In the run-up to the 147th anniversary of Belgorod State University, the Nature of Belogorye Exhibition Center hosted the grand opening of an entomological exhibition, replenished with new butterflies from the families of white butterflies (Pieridae), satyr butterflies (Satyridae), brush-footed butterflies (Nymphalidae) and geometrid moths (Geometridae) from the collection of the amateur entomologist Pavel Semyonovich Kozlov.
Alexei Chernitsov, Acting Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of BelSU, expressed his congratulations on the opening of the exhibition.
Elena Grebtsova, a senior lecturer at the Department of Biology, told the visitors about Pavel Semenovich Kozlov who used to be a teacher of physics and astronomy at the Vislaya Dubrava School (Ulyanovsk region).
The guests of honour at the event were Oleg Polukhin, Professor of the Department of Social Technologies and Public Service, Deputy Head of the Research Laboratory for Civil Society Development, and Alexander Godin, Director of Belgorod Boarding School No. 23. Thanks to these people, Belgorod State University has acquired the collection of P.S. Kozlov.
A. Godin was personally acquainted with P.S. Kozlov, who used to be his mentor more than 50 years ago.
The visitors got acquainted with the insects of the Belgorod region, including the butterflies from the collection of Professor A.V. Prisny (donated to the Center by the university staff) and several butterflies from the collection of P.S. Kozlov (both inhabiting the neighbourhood of Vislaya Dubrava village and species from other parts of the world).
