Students, teachers and graduates of different years gathered for the jubilee evening of the Institute of Earth Sciences in the Youth Cultural Centre of the National Research University "BelSU".
Before the concert, the guests had a tour of the A.N. Petin Geological and Mineralogical Museum and visited “The Mine” - a new training ground for mining engineers.
Ignat Ignatenko, the Director of the Institute of Earth Sciences, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, addressed the participants of the holiday with a welcoming speech. He noted that the structural unit trains highly demanded specialists in the field of geology and geography, land management, ecology and nature management, subsoil research and mining, landscape architecture, technosphere safety. Ignat Ignatenko also spoke about the research activities of the Institute.
“Today, the Institute has six research centers and laboratories with modern innovative equipment, where young scientists work. All of them are implementing projects both for the Innovative Solutions in Agriculture Scientific and Educational Center and within the framework of the Priority 2030 program,” Ignat Mikhailovich emphasized.
Evgenia Karlovskaya, Acting Rector of BelSU, congratulated the Institute in her Telegram channel and noted that after five years about 400 specialists are successfully working not only in the Belgorod region, but also far beyond its borders.
She said: "Most of the students are employed in their specialty even before graduation. This is the result of fruitful cooperation of the Institute with its industrial partners – the Yakovlevsky Mining and Processing Plant (Severstal) and the Lebedinsky Mining and Processing Plant. Together we are implementing projects in the field of ecology, mining, hydrology and safe work, providing scientific support of production processes. We plan to establish such cooperation with other large enterprises of the industry, both on the scale of the region and the country."
A lot of warm wishes were expressed this evening from graduates of the Institute, who are now successfully working in various positions of public service, and teachers who were at the origin of the education of Natural Geography and Geological Geography Faculties, which later transformed into the Institute of Earth Sciences.
As part of the festive event, employees and students were awarded letters of thanks from the Director of the Institute. The students also received memorable gifts from the BelSU Trade Union Organization for their active participation in the sports, cultural, social and scientific life from the hands of Valery Timofeev, the Chairman of the Trade Union Committee.
