Belgorod State University became a platform for the final meeting of the expert forum of the Eurasian People's Assemby "Truth and Morality: a strategic resource of public diplomacy".
The plenary session was attended by over eighty representatives from more than twenty member States of international organizations, public and scientific figures from post-Soviet countries, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia and Europe.
As Evgenia Karlovskaya, Acting Rector of BelSU National Research University, noted in a welcoming video message, participation in this forum is important and symbolic for Belgorod University, because public and especially scientific and educational diplomacy is a tool for strengthening international integration, which the university actively promotes in its activities.
Evgeniya Anatolyevna emphasized that they strive to contribute to building friendly and mutually beneficial relations with everyone who is ready to cooperate on the principles of mutual respect. She is convinced that only such an approach will allow our countries to overcome all obstacles on the way to building a joint future.
The meeting was moderated by Vladislav Kuchmisty, Acting Vice-Rector for International Cooperation of "BelSU" National Research University, and Yulia Petrova, Deputy Secretary General of the Assembly of Peoples of Eurasia.
The topics raised by the speakers concerned universal human values, cooperation in scientific, educational and cultural spheres. They also discussed the current geopolitical situation and the balance of power in the global economic space.
Thus, speaking about the prerequisites for the emergence of armed conflicts that have engulfed a number of regions in the post-Soviet space and the Middle East, the head of the Committee on Economic Strategies of the Eurasian People's Assemby, analyst and public figure Mikhail Khazin argued that money is always the cause of significant events.
One of the reasons for the conflicts in the post-Soviet space, the expert called the reluctance on the part of the United States of America to give up the position of the No. 1 power with an obvious inability to ensure the legitimacy of dollar assets in the world due to the economic downturn that has been observed in the United States for more than two years.
The speaker summarized that this means that everyone who has accumulated large dollar assets will lose them during this crisis, including many Arab countries. Accordingly, the key question – already political – facing the beneficiaries of the Bretton Woods dollar system is: "How to make sure that they are not to blame?". In order for them not to be to blame, there must be a war.
Mikhail Leonidovich described in detail the situation on the world currency market and called on representatives of the participating countries of the Eurasian People's Assemby to combine the protection of their assets with the creation of alternative currency zones.
Turning to the topic of the forum – truth and morality as a strategic resource of public diplomacy – talking about a common future, the idea was traced in the speeches of almost all speakers that the world community needs to invest in future generations, in young people, and this should happen through universities and science.
This was discussed by President of Damascus University Mohammad Osama Jabban, President of the UAE Institute of Cultural Diplomacy Mohamad Kamil Almoaini, Advisor to the Secretary General of the Association of Graduates of Soviet and Russian Universities Wahib Mohammad Abdil Fatah Karazhi, Co-Chairman of the General Council of the Eurasian People's Assemby, member of the State Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Alexandra Ochirova and others.
In turn, the deputy of the Parliament of Bahrain, Chairman of the Union of Graduates of Soviet and Russian Universities in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Yusif Zeinal, announced that all mankind lives by simple thoughts and desires set forth in Lev Oshanin's children's poem "May there always be sun", and proposed to make the world-famous song written on these poems the anthem of the Assembly of Peoples of Eurasia.
The plenary session ended with the voicing of the key points of the final resolution, which will contribute to the formation of relevant approaches to the creation of mechanisms for building a joint future.
First of all, Deputy Secretary General of the Eurasian People's Assemby Yulia Petrova noted that the forum should become a permanent authoritative international platform where solutions will be developed in the field of public diplomacy, joint scientific and educational programs, the development of intercultural communications, the creation of new effective partnerships.
Together with partners, including from the university community, the Assembly plans to expand its activities by opening representative offices in the countries of the Arab Gulf, the Pacific region and the African continent.
They also discussed the intensification of cooperation in the cultural, humanitarian, scientific and educational spheres with associations of foreign graduates of Soviet and Russian universities in the member countries of the Eurasian People's Assemby.
As the forum was held at the sites of three leading universities of the Belgorod region, as Yulia Igorevna stressed, the Assembly expects to expand partnership with universities from the Middle East, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region.
In conclusion, Yulia Petrova said that everything discussed at the forum is primarily addressed to the younger generation, university youth, and without expanding this interaction, without deepening and building truly effective, authoritative partnerships, we will not move further. Despite the fact that we live in different countries and speak different languages, we are all looking forward to the future together, we wish a safe and sustainable world to all of us, our children, so we must do everything to ensure that this is the case.
