The 10th International Scientific Conference “Issues of Nature Management and Ecological Situation in European Russia and Neighbouring Countries” was held at Belgorod State University.
The conference was attended by 47 scientific teams from Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
Nikolay Repnikov, the Acting Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation of Belgorod State University, welcomed the participants and underlined high relevance of nature management and ecology issues in the university’s agenda.
Roman Tatarintsev, the Minister of Nature Management of Belgorod Region, noted the interest in cooperation with the Institute of Earth Sciences, also in new directions.
BelSU scientists made reports on the results of the current projects under “Prioritet-2030” Programme, including those related to phytoremediation, which is promising both for contaminated land reclamation and water treatment in settling tanks, were of particular interest.
Arkady Tishkov, the Chief Researcher and the Head of the Laboratory of the Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, represented the results of the joint project “Management of Ecosystems Reproduction in Agrolandscapes”, launched in 2023 by the Institute of Geography of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Earth Sciences of under “Prioritet-2030” Programme. In his report Arkady gave examples of 20 risky scenarios of development of agricultural sector in the region.
It should be noted that prior to the conference the RAS Institute of Geography and BelSU Institute of Earth Sciences signed the agreement on implementing a joint doctoral programme in Geoecology. The prospective programme will open the doctoral students of both institutions shared access to the research facilities during their scientific practice, and provide the opportunity to make scientific contacts for interdisciplinary research.
