BelSU programme of patriotic tourism for students won in the national competition of best youth policy practices in 2023.
The programme of patriotic tourism for Belgorod State University students was among the winners of the best practices competition aimed at fostering patriotism in Russian universities. The university was also included in the interactive map “Youth Policy and Pedagogical Work in Russian Universities”, demonstrating the universities, which implement best youth policy practices.
The competition was supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. According to the organisers, its purpose was to create a pool of effective solutions, which provide for methodological support of the teams headed by vice-rectors for youth policy and pedagogical work, focused on revelation and application of students’ capabilities. A total of 675 practices from 202 Russian universities were submitted for the competition.
Inna Kuznetsova, the Director of BelSU Centre for Students’ Civic and Patriotic Education, noted that field trips helped students to get into the historical spirit of different Russian cities, many of which had centuries-old history and witnessed great events.
Over 490 student-activists of Belgorod State University, including international students, involved in the university’s life and volunteer activities, have participated in patriotic trips.
A total of 10 trips were organized – three groups went to Patriot Park in Moscow region, and also visited Rzhev, St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Smolensk, Tula, Veliky Novgorod and Mozhaysk.
According to the students, participation in such trips gives them a good opportunity to learn about the country's history, open their minds and gain a unique experience by travelling around Russia.
The programme will continue in the updated format this year.
