Belgorod State University develop cooperation with a partner university in China

During the visit to East China Pedagogical University (ECPU) the parties exchanged experience and outlined the primary steps in developing joint educational programs and cooperation on artificial intelligence in education. BelSU delegation consisted of the representatives of Pedagogical Institute – Sergey Shilin, the Director of the Center for Cooperation with Priority Regions, Maxim Velichko, the Head of Mathematics Academic Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Natural Science Education, Maria Sitnikova, Associate Professor of Psychology Academic Chair of the Department of Psychology, and Elena Pupynina, Associate Professor of English Philology and Intercultural Communication Academic Chair, the Deputy Director of the Institute of Intercultural Communication and International Relations.

During the meeting with Nie Mingkang, the Dean of ECPU Department of Mathematics, the issues of joint training of Master students specializing in mathematics teaching, as well as doctoral students of Applied Mathematics were discussed. The Chinese colleagues were interested in cooperation in STEM, robotics and microcontroller programming.

Prof. Yin Dajie of the School of Psychology and Cognitive Sciences presented the research results on cognitive neuroscience at East China Pedagogical University, and the possibilities of its experimental facilities.

Russian Language Department headed by Prof. Ban Jie expressed interest in close cooperation with BelSU Institute of Intercultural Communication and International Relations. Ms. Fan noted the trend of combining language training with other fields of study and expressed interest in developing a joint program in digital philology. As for the initial cooperation steps, the parties agreed to hold a number of inter-institutional events and open lectures, as well as to explore the possibility of joint training of doctoral students. In turn, Bei Wenli, the Director of the Center for Russian Studies, invited Belgorod students to SCO Summer School of Language and Culture, which is annually held at East China Pedagogical University.

BelSU delegation members were welcomed by Mr. Du Zhengyu, the Director of the International Cooperation Department. He highly appreciated the results of the negotiations and expressed hope for long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation, emphasizing the importance of building and maintaining contacts between the scientists of both universities.

As a reminder, the cooperation agreement between BelSU and East China Pedagogical University was signed in August 2023.
