The Center of Chinese Language and Culture at the Institute of Intercultural Communication and International Relations hosted New Year celebration according to the lunar calendar.
Belgorod State University students are regularly familiarized with traditions and culture of different countries. This time the university organized a New Year celebration according to Asian tradition. The event was attended by Olga Lyutova, the Director of the Peoples' Friendship Center, students of the Institute of Intercultural Communication and International Relations, curators and heads of international students’ communities of Belgorod State University.
The students of Chinese students’ community presented an interesting program: students told about the holiday traditions, sang songs in Chinese, read poetry of their own. The online greeting was prepared by Nadezhda Semashkina, a lecturer of the Department of Russian Language, Professional Speech and Intercultural Communication, together with the students of Dezhou University, as well as students of the Institute of Intercultural Communication and International Relations who are now in China.
“Despite the difficult and segregated times, we join to celebrate all traditional holidays, and New Year according to the lunar calendar is especially beautiful, it symbolizes the beginning of spring, which means the origin of a new life!”, addressed the students Svetlana Funikova, the curator of BelSU Chinese students’ community.
It should be reminded that in Russia, 2024 and 2025 have been declared Russia-China Culture Years by the President of the Russian Federation. There are over 840 Chinese students studying currently at BelSU, dozens of them have come from other East Asia countries.
