The event was traditionally organised by Tambov State Technical University.
International students of BelSU Preparatory Department, the Institute of Intercultural Communication and International Relations and Medical Institute attended the X “We Speak Russian” International Russian as a Foreign Language Contest, which was organized both in correspondence and face-to-face formats. The students represented China, Haiti, Namibia, Nigeria, Morocco, Senegal, Syria, Uzbekistan and Ecuador.
It is not for the first time that BelSU international students participate in “We Speak Russian” contest organised by Tambov State Technical University. This year it was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Department of International Education and the Department of Russian Language and General Education Courses. The event brought together participants from Arkhangelsk, Samara, Ulyanovsk, Belgorod, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Perm, Rostov-on-Don, Elista and other cities of Russia. Students from educational centres, universities, schools of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia and Serbia also joined the event.
Natalia Shevchenko and Lillia Petrova, lecturers of the Department of Russian Language, Professional Speech and Intercultural Communication, Olga Lyutova, the Acting Director of the Peoples' Friendship Centre, had trained 15 international students to participate in various contest nominations, such as “Essay Contest”, “Recitation Contest”, “Video Postcard” contest.
“Our university students prepared poems by Rasul Gamzatov and Sergey Mikhalkov, made videos “Belgorod – My Study and Residence City”, wrote essays on the topics “My First Impressions of Russia”, “My Best Day in Russia”, "Why I Study Russian Language?”, “What is My Place the Country’s Development?”, “My Family”, “What is the Role of A Birthplace in One’s Life?”, “Happy is the One Who is Happy at Home (L.N. Tolstoy)””, said Olga Lyutova.
The opening ceremony held in the combined format was opened by Olga Lyutova, who congratulated the Faculty of International Education and the Department of Russian Language and General Education Courses of TSTU with the anniversary on behalf of the university, thanked for organisation and the opportunity to participate in the event and wished all the participants good results in the contest.
The contest organisers expressed their gratitude to all participants and partners for their support and consolidation in promoting Russian language worldwide.
The results of the contest will be announced the following two weeks.
