The thesis explores the conditions that promote longevity in Mongolia.
Senge Enkhmandal, a 2022 graduate of the postgraduate programme of Belgorod State University, defended her PhD thesis on "Scientific substantiation of the specifics of longevity-friendly environment in Mongolia". The doctor from Mongolia studied in the discipline 3.1.31 Gerontology and Geriatrics (medical sciences). The scientific supervisor was Associate Professor Svetlana Gorelik.
According to Svetlana Gorelik, the postgraduate student was trained under the programme of the Ministry of Education, previously studied in South Korea. Sengae Enkhmandal's main speciality is neurologist, but she devoted her scientific work to the study of longevity.
In total, the study identified about 40 points that affect the aging of the population. About 1,000 Mongolian citizens took part in the study, which helped to understand which environmental and urban factors have a positive effect on slowing down ageing, and which ones lead to its premature onset.
- She is very talented, she did her research so that after graduation she could put it into practice in Mongolia. Now a programme for healthy and gradual ageing in Mongolia has been developed and launched, and her work has aroused a great interest and recognition in the scientific community," Svetlana Gorelik said.
During her studies at Belgorod State University, the postgraduate student learnt Russian, which she used to defend her work. The dissertation aroused great interest among the members of the dissertation council, opponents and those present, who noted the high academic quality of the preparation and implementation of the dissertation research, as well as its significance for gerontology and geriatrics not only in Mongolia, but also in Russia. The programme that has been launched is divided into two parts: recommendations for the state and personal recommendations for the people of Mongolia.
In the debate, in addition to the members of the dissertation council, a doctor of medical sciences of the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy named after I.K. Akhunbaev spoke. I.K. Akhunbaev Sagynali Mamatov.
