The National Friendship Centre hosted a literary teleconference that united students of the BelSU and the Belgorod Institute of Food Sciences at Dezhou University.
The meeting in the Literary Salon, dedicated to the Chinese Language Day, was held in a combined format. Russian and foreign students of Belgorod State University and the Chinese partner university gathered to read lines of their favourite works by Chinese poets, writers and philosophers.
Welcoming the participants, Natalia Zhukovskaya, Director of the Department of International Co-operation of Belgorod State University, noted the importance of immersion in the culture of the country whose language you are studying.
Acting Director of the National Friendship Centre of the BelSU Olga Lyutova told about the history of the memorable date associated with the beginning of the "guyu" season, which is translated as "bread rains", with which the heavenly forces thanked Сang Jie for the creation of pictograms, which became the basis of Chinese writing. Since the first mention of the ancient scholar in a treatise from the 3rd century BC, his image has acquired mythological features: Cang Jie's four eyes symbolise his special foresight.
Ivan Govorishchev, an employee of the Foreign Language Literature Department of the Belgorod State Universal Scientific Library, told about the history of the first Chinese books.
Nadezhda Semashkina, Associate Professor of the Department of Russian Language, Professional Speech and Intercultural Communication of IMKIMO, and students of the Belgorod Institute of Food Sciences, Dezhou University, who recently laid a time capsule in Dezhou with good wishes for future graduates, addressed the guests in the Belgorod studio.
Chinese literature lovers performed poems, songs and prose by such Chinese poets, writers, philosophers as Lu Qixin, Du Fu, Su Shi, Li Bo, Zong Pu and many others.
And on the university channel "Pegasius BelSU" in Zen, Zhao Shiyan, a student of the Preparatory Faculty, and Zheng Wentao, a third-year student of the Institute of Pharmacy, Chemistry and Biology, told how long it takes to master spoken and written Chinese.
The next meeting in the Literary Salon will be dedicated to Spanish Language Day and will be held in a combined format on 23 April.
