Scimago Journal & Country Rank published a ranking arranged according to the authority and relevance of the academic journals.
This year, the updated list of Scimago Journal & Country Ranking includes 566 Russian publications, of which the quartile is calculated for 559. Among the latter are three academic journals of the NRU BSU, which are indexed in the Scopus international scientometric database. These are “Research Result. Theoretical and Applied Linguistics” (with Olga Dekhnich as a chief editor), which received Q1, the highest SJR quartile, “Research Results in Biomedicine” (with Mikhail Churnosov as a chief editor) and “Research Results in Pharmacology” (with Mikhail Pokrovsky as a chief editor) with the highest SJR quartile – Q3.
The analysis of journals is based on data from the Scopus ISDB. This indicator reflects the prominence and prestige of academic journals.
As Mikhail Churnosov noted, the journal “Research Results in Biomedicine” had success in 2023. The journal strengthened its position in two categories: “Obstetrics and Gynecology” and “Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmaceutics (miscellaneous)”.
“The positive dynamics of the scientific rating of the journal in the Scimago international database testifies to the increase of its reputation in the international academic community and is the basis for the active development of the journal in 2024”, – said Mikhail Ivanovich.
The other two journals maintained their quartility, which also indicates the reputational merits of the journals.
“Maintaining a high quartile in SJR is an extremely difficult goal, as each citation in the Scopus ISDB is tested for its significance. The higher is the quartile of a journal in the SJR, the more citations should come from more reputative sources,” Olga Dekhnich clarified.
Mikhail Pokrovsky added that the improvement of the metrics also depends on the subject matter of the journal, as there is very high competition in medical sciences.
The Scopus CiteScore metric will have an update in June, and one can already predict improvement of three journals' metrics compared to last year.
“The NRU BSU scientific journals are now included in international databases, both cross-disciplinary and field-specific, and their indicators are improving. It testifies to the well-coordinated work of journal team members and scientific departments, the competent policy of the center for the development of publication activity and the university management to promote the scientific results and image of the NRU BSU,” – summarized Tatiana Reznichenko, the Vice-Rector for Science and Innovation of the BSU.
