A panel discussion on inter-confessional relations was held at the National Research University BelSU

On the platform of the Headquarters of public support of the United Russia Party a round table "The basis of inter-confessional relations – harmony between peoples" was held, organized by the Coordination Center for the formation of active citizenship among youth, prevention of international and inter-confessional conflicts, counteracting the ideology of terrorism and prevention of extremism of "BelSU" in partnership with the Peoples' Friendship Center of the university.

The participants of the panel discussion debated the importance of international and inter-confessional relations, which are key components of social dynamics in the modern world. The event was attended by more than 70 first and second year students of the university.

In the course of the discussion the students wondered how to prevent conflicts and contradictions between representatives of different nations, taking into account that each nation has its own culture and relations between them are not always amicable. The speaker of the event was Margarita Varfolomeyeva, Deputy Director of the Coordinating Center of WITIPE, who noted that one of the main issues in international relations in Russia is the lack of mutual understanding and trust between people of different nationalities.

- This problem arises because of differences in culture, religion, traditions and other aspects of life. Such differences often develop into conflicts and tension between people of different nationalities," - said Margarita Varfolomeyeva.

Olga Lyutova, Acting Director of the Peoples' Friendship Center of "BelSU" told about the system of formation and development of intercultural communication and international communication based on positive traditional universal values. She drew the attention of the students to the importance of realizing that patriotism and cross-national harmony are not opposites, but mutually complimentary.

At the end of the meeting, the participants were encouraged to contact the Coordinating Center of WPTIPE and the Peoples' Friendship Center, as well as the mentors of fellow country communities on any issues related to possible conflicts.
