Leading research scientist from the BelSU Research Institute for Materials Science and Innovative Technologies visited the Harbin Institute of Technology.
Sergey Zherebtsov, a leading research scientist from the BelSU Laboratory of Bulk Nanomaterials, made a working trip to China to discuss the obtained results and to update the plan for further operations within the joint project supported by the Russian Science Foundation.
‘The project is dedicated to developing heat-resistant titanium alloy matrix composites. The objective of the work is to achieve higher strength characteristics at elevated temperatures with potential applications, for example in aircraft engines. Further works will focus on modification of the base material of the metal-matrix composite in order to achieve unprecedented high-temperature performance,’ commented Sergey Zherebtsov.
The scientist notes that this is the first joint project, although BelSU and the Chinese partner university have been cooperating for about five years.
At the meeting with Professor Lujun Huang, the Dean of HIT’s School of Materials Science and Engineering, it was provisionally arranged to develop the cooperation both for scientific research and possible options for mobility of young researchers.
For the record: The joint project of Belgorod National Research University and Harbin Institute of Technology is implemented under Agreement No. 23-49-00108 for Development of heat-resistant titanium alloys reinforced with TiB fibers.
