A student from Ecuador wins at the athletic contest in Belgorod annually featuring best strength athletes.
Kachimuel Limaico Tiyana Daniela, a native Ecuadorian, studies at the BelSU Medical Institute. She has successfully competed in the power sport, deadlift and powerlifting nominations of the annual PHOENIX V sports festival of strength sports. At the event, the athletes attempt to meet the elite lifter standards set by the National Association of Powerlifting (NAP) as the festival pursues its goal of identifying Russia’s best strength athletes.
Tiyana was the best in Powerlifting’s bench press and set a record for her weight category. The lifter also took prizes in other categories as well.
‘I am happy to have achieved such results. This may be not a World or Europe Championship, but for me, this is a significant stage in my sports career. I appreciate that my friends, guys from the Belgorod University’s Latin American community, came to support me. They are my family here, in Russia. It is great that they were supporting me,’ shared Tiyana.
According to Olga Lyutova, the curator of the BelSU Latin American community, Tiyana is a very persevering girl: she manages not only to play sports, but does a lot of work. Tiyana volunteers in a hospital, gives master classes in Latin American dances, participates in the cultural and social life of the community and the whole university.
‘It is not surprising that Tiyana studies medicine. I’m sure that having such a versatile personality will make her an excellent professional in her field,’ said Olga Lyutova.
Under the guidance of the NAP first-category coach Marlen Avanesov, the athlete is now preparing to compete in Iron Rating in Kaluga (Russia) which will be held on November 1-2 2024.
