BelSU delegates took part in the Conference of BRICS University Presidents and Forum of the Federation of Rectors of Russian and Arab Universities.
Headed by Rector Evgeniya Karlovskaya, the delegation from Belgorod State University visited Moscow to participate in significant conferences hosted by Lomonosov Moscow State University.
BRICS University Presidents Cenference brought together 200 rectors and representatives of leading universities and research centres from Russia, Brazil, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Iran, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia. As key occasion Evgeniya Karlovskaya Karlovskaya named the announcement of the results of the pilot ranking of the BRICS universities . BelSU ranks 201-250 in the list of 600 universities from 10 countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Among 161 Russian universities included in the ranking, BelSU is on the 44-58 position.
The forum also became the venue where BelSU re-signed a cooperation agreement with one of the Belarusian universities.
‘Taking advantage of the opportunity, we again signed a cooperation agreement with Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. It is symbolic that it is in the BelSU Year of Partnerships that we are renewing the cooperation our universities started back in 2012. With the rector of Grodno State University Irina Kiturko we agreed on academic mobility,’ shared BelSU rector.
BelSU representatives also participated in the Forum of the Federation of Rectors of Russian and Arab Universities. The Federation currently unites 70 leading universities in Russia and the Arab countries with the main goals of strengthening comprehensive cooperation between universities, promoting the Russian language in the Arab world and Arabic – at Russian universities.
‘It is very important for our university, since over 800 students from 17 Arab countries are studying at BelSU. We are making every effort to create most comfortable environments for our students,’ emphasized Evgeniya Karlovskaya.
BelSU Rector also told that under the Priority 2030 program, in 2023 BelSU opened the Mahmoud Darwish Centre for Arabic Language and Culture, and launched Arabic language courses available for everyone.
As part of the forum, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between BelSU and the Al-Kut University College (Iraq). Evgeniya Karlovskaya expressed her hope for a truly fruitful cooperation between the educational institutions.
