BelSU students participated in the 12th Regional Festival ‘Science 0+’ in Stary Oskol.
Belgorod State University is actively engaged in science popularization. This year, the university again took part in the Science 0+ Festival. An interactive exhibition Touch the Science took place at the Stary Oskol branch of MISIS University. BelSU Rector Evgeniya Karlovskaya also arrived at the venue to participate in the celebration of science and research.
For the guests of the scientific fest, BelSU Institute of Pharmacy, Chemistry and Biology prepared an exhibition and several master classes. A BelSU master’s degree student Anna Chepurina demonstrated a collection of promising microorganisms prepared by young scientists from the Biological Educational and Scientific Complex. The microorganisms she showed can be employed in many solutions for global problems. At their master class, Biotechnology students Dmitry Peresypkin and Maria Osadcheva showed how scientists extract DNA from plant tissues. Angelina Morkel and Anastasia Garkavaya taught their guests to make scented sachets from local flowers and herbs.
A student of the BelSU Institute of Earth Sciences Sofia Usenko prepared a mini-programme titled ‘I am a soil scientist’. At her master class, the participants learned how to prepare soil samples for humus analysis and had an overall opportunity to immerse in the atmosphere of scientific research.
For the participants of their master class, students of the BelSU Law Institute Artem Shapovalov, Anastasia Lisichenko, and Diana Oksenenko lifted the veil on the Secrets of Criminalistics. They demonstrated technical and forensic tools and devices used in investigative actions.
