The winners of the competitive selection had an opportunity to gain first-hand experience in challenges and responsibilities faced by the rector, vice-rectors and heads of the institutes on a daily basis.
For the second time, the Administrator for the Day or the Day of the Understudy took place at Belgorod National Research University. From the very morning the university band cheered up the teachers with in the main building’s foyer where also took place a festive introduction of the students selected among their peers to serve as guest rector, vice rectors and heads of structural divisions to their mentors – acting university administrators. For the Day, a student of the Faculty of Psychology Liliya Lavrova took the reins as BelSU Rector Evgeniya Karlovskaya. BelSU Institute of Economics and Management students Sofia Radchenko took helm as Alexey Chernitsov, Egor Gubenko – as Boris Ivanchikhin, the Law Institute student Dmitry Gridchin - as Dmitry Krupkin, Medical Institute students Darya Fugarevich – as Maria Chuykova and Elizaveta Bakhmudova as – Tatyana Reznichenko, the student of he Institute of Intercultural Communication and International Relations Veronika Ivanova – as Vladislav Kuchmisty, the Institute of Social Sciences and Mass Communications student Iolana Golovfaeva – as Elena Skripnikova, the student of the Institute of Pharmacy, Chemistry and Biology Alexandra Fyodorova – as Igor Polevoy, and the student of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of the Pedagogical Institute Maxim Kislitsin – as Vladimir Gerashchenko. Seven more students performed as Heads of the university institutes for the Day. .
Young people participated in a reduced session of the Rector's office and learned what issues the university top management have to solve on a daily basis. The working hours of the Administrators for the Day were busy with meetings, including ones with external experts engaged in accreditation of BelSU educational programme on Biology, as well as with working on documents and answering emails.
In the afternoon, the university hosted Festive League on the KVN with mixed teams of students, teachers, and university employees. The Jury was unanimous in giving first place to the Land Code, a so-called “interdisciplinary team” that united representatives of the Institute of Earth Sciences and the Law Institute.
‘This is a unique experience that you can't always see as a student. I am sure I’ll definitely use the experience I gained in the future, and I hope that the Administrator for the Day will become a regular event for us,’ said Dmitry Gridchin, the Day’s Vice-Rector for integrated safety and security and property complex development.
Sharing her impressions, the Director of the Law Institute for the Day, graduate student Victoria Nesterenko noted that the most vivid impressions she gained while holding the meetings.
BelSU Rector Evgeniya Karlovskaya, in turn, noted that the experience of the University Administrators’ for a Day Event is worthy of continuation.<< Back to the list |
