The Rodina exhibition hall recently hosted an exposition celebrating its 15th anniversary.
This special exhibition showcased works from the hall's collection, featuring four thematic displays that highlight pieces from the most popular exhibitions over the past two years. Visitors can enjoy familiar views of Belgorod, along with recognizable faces and events. The collection includes both graphic art and paintings, as well as mixed media panels that utilize a variety of materials, ranging from gouache to patchwork applique.
Among the featured works are several canvases depicting Belgorod National Research University. Notably, Irina Iva’s piece “We Went to the Exhibition” presents a view of the exhibition hall from the university, showcasing the fountain in front of the main building.
Galina Aksenova contributed her painting “White City” to the exhibition hall’s collection. This work captures the outlines of the city’s most iconic buildings, including the main building of the university on Pobedy Street. Completed in 2016, it symbolically features a dove of peace carrying an olive branch above the silhouettes of these landmarks.
Valery Kuzminov’s painting “White City” also portrays a view of Belgorod State University, along with the Archangel Gabriel Church and the bridge over the Vezelka River.
In Igor Ponkratov’s work “Heavenly Connection,” the outlines of the bridge, university building, and church seamlessly blend into one another.
‘The work ‘Heavenly Connection’ is rendered in a realistic style with elements of image stylization. The artist transforms the space and alters the relationships between real objects, combining on one canvas the path to knowledge – a bridge – the pursuit of knowledge itself represented by the building of Belgorod State University, and the profound spiritual connection that arises in a person who embraces Faith – a temple reaching toward the blue sky,’ explained Elizaveta Karelikova, head of the museum and exhibition activities sector at the Rodina exhibition hall.
Completing the selection of views of Belgorod State University is Anna Kuvshinova's painting "Preobrazhenskaya," which depicts the former Belgorod men’s gymnasium, now home to the social and theological faculty of Belgorod State University.
