The 10th International Scientific and Practical Conference titled “Professional and Pedagogical Culture of a Teacher: Theory and Practice of Educational Activity in Modern Society” recently took place at Belgorod National Research University.
This event was organized collaboratively by Belgorod National Research University (BelSU), Melitopol State University, Grodno State University named after Yanka Kupala (Belarus), and Tashkent State Pedagogical University named after Nizami (Uzbekistan).
In her welcoming address, Professor Victoria Tarabaeva, Director of the Pedagogical Institute, emphasized that this year’s conference commemorated the 85th anniversary of the Department of Pedagogy – an essential scientific and methodological unit within the university that has significantly influenced the content, technologies, and future directions of teacher training.
The conference attracted a diverse group of participants, including academics, psychologists, sociologists, university and college lecturers, teachers, and heads of comprehensive schools, as well as educators from preschool and additional education sectors. Over 170 individuals from various cities and research centres engaged in the discussions.
During the plenary session, attendees addressed pressing issues in pedagogical education and the development of professional and pedagogical culture. Topics included the self-development of teachers amid educational reforms, the formation of a teacher’s identity in the context of Russia’s civilizational sovereignty, strategies for conflict resolution in interpersonal interactions, and the professionally oriented project activities of pedagogical university students.
Associate Professor Elena Eroshenkova from BelSU Pedagogics Department presented findings from a study conducted under the State assignment “Development of the Concept of Prosocial Pedagogical Education in a University as a Long-Term Investment in Human Capital Development, Strategies for Assistance, and a Solidary Society.”
The discussions continued in five breakout sessions, where Professor Ilya Isaev from the Department of Pedagogy noted that the materials presented, the nature of the discussions, and the overall atmosphere reflected teachers’ active engagement in research activities. He highlighted their commitment to achieving meaningful results and their understanding of the critical importance of nurturing professional and pedagogical culture among current and future educators.
