Belgorod National Research University has recently signed an agreement to strengthen collaboration with the United Metallurgical Company (OMK) in the areas of research and education.
Representatives from the United Metallurgical Company (OMK) visited Belgorod National Research University (BelSU) for a working meeting with Rector Evgenia Karlovskaya, alongside Vice-Rector for Strategic Development, Science and Innovation Elena Skripnikova, Vice-Rector for Educational Activities Aleksey Chernitsov, and Director of the Engineering Centre for Innovative Solutions Damir Tagirov.
During this meeting, the agreement outlining their cooperation in research and educational activities was formalized.
Rector Karlovskaya emphasized the importance of aligning scientific directions with business needs, stating,
“As a research university, it is fundamentally important for BelSU to consider the requirements of the industry when selecting research topics. This agreement will create favourable conditions for a long-term, mutually beneficial partnership.”
She further highlighted that BelSU’s extensive scientific and technical expertise will facilitate joint research projects with OMK and ensure that personnel training aligns with industry demands and labour market trends.
During their visit, OMK representatives explored the university’s scientific and industrial infrastructure, including the BelSU Centre for Collective Use. Damir Tagirov provided insights into the activities of the laboratory focused on the mechanical properties of nanostructured and heat-resistant materials, as well as the work conducted by the BelSU Department of Materials Science. Additionally, a productive dialogue took place between leading BelSU scientists and OMK representatives, fostering collaboration in materials research.
