Students from Belgorod National Research University’s Medical Institute excelled at the X All-Russian Student Olympiad on Emergency Medical Care, titled “Exercise,” where they emerged as prizewinners in the senior program.
Held in Kursk, this Olympiad featured a team competition set in a simulated environment designed to replicate emergency medical scenarios. Participants were evaluated on their practical nursing and medical skills, communication and leadership abilities, as well as their capacity to work effectively under pressure. The competition utilized actors to create a realistic atmosphere, along with mannequins, makeup to simulate injuries, and real medical and rescue equipment.
Representing Belgorod National Research University (BelSU) were sixth-year students specializing in General Medicine, Victoria Pribylykh and Olga Kopyeva.
The Olympiad consisted of seven distinct stages: emergency medical care in a hospital, emergency medical care in virtual reality, nursing skills, a telephone competition, first aid in an emergency zone, managing multiple trauma cases, and medical evacuation. Each stage had its own unique challenges and required participants to possess comprehensive knowledge in emergency medicine.
