Students from the “Tourism” and “Service” programs have gained valuable experience in organizing the operations of a large sanatorium.
For students at the Department of International Tourism and Hotel Business within the Institute of Economics and Management, summer is not just a time for vacation; it also marks an important phase in their professional development. This year, the traditional on-site internship took place at the Foros Sanatorium, one of Russia’s most picturesque and significant tourist destinations. Renowned in the Russian tourism industry, this iconic site combines modern infrastructure with the stunning natural beauty of the Crimea’s southern coast, all while adhering to high service standards.
From the very first days of their internship, these future professionals engaged directly with department heads and key representatives at the sanatorium. They learned how to organize the operations of various divisions, including accommodation, food services, spa management, sales, marketing, and entertainment. Students actively participated in daily operational activities, gaining hands-on experience in the field.
“It was a truly professional experience. We didn’t just observe; we actively participated in the work. We welcomed guests, analysed tourism products, and studied service standards in practice,” shared Yana Laktionova, a second-year student.
The students emphasized that Foros is more than just a sanatorium; it is a unique tourist cluster. For many, this internship provided their first real opportunity to interact with tourists, address professional challenges, and collaborate with industry colleagues. Such experiences are an essential part of their training that cannot be replicated in a classroom setting.
Beyond their professional development, students also had the chance to explore Crimea’s rich nature and history, strengthen their team spirit, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the southern coast.
The BelSU Department of International Tourism and Hotel Business at the Institute of Economics and Management extends its gratitude to the partners at Foros Sanatorium for their warm hospitality and for providing students with this invaluable opportunity for professional growth.
