University has joined the main track of the strategic academic leadership program, a significant initiative that unites 87 universities from 36 regions of the country.
The Council for the Support of Development Programs of Participating Universities has recently announced the results of presentations from participating universities, and Belgorod National Research University (BelSU) is among the 106 institutions set to receive a substantial funding boost of 26.8 billion roubles.
This program primarily benefits regional universities, which account for over 64% of grant recipients, allowing them to compete with prestigious institutions in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Russian Minister of Education and Science, Valery Falkov, highlighted this competitive landscape while emphasizing the program's new focus on fostering technological leadership in the country, starting in 2025.
To support this initiative, Gazprombank JSC has established a Technology Leadership Centre that will serve as a hub for strategic technology projects developed by these universities. The participating universities have been categorized into three groups based on the size of their grants. The first group consists of 13 universities that will each receive approximately 830 million roubles; the second group includes 22 universities, each receiving 400 million roubles; and the third group comprises 52 universities, including BelSU, which will receive up to 100 million roubles.
In a message shared on her Telegram channel, BelSU Rector Evgeniya Karlovskaya expressed gratitude for the support provided by the Ministry of Education and Science to regional universities. She emphasized that being part of the third group will enable BelSU to enhance its contributions toward achieving technological leadership.
