More than 1,500 participants of all ages took part in the mass sports race.
The regional stage of the all-Russian mass race, Lyzhnia Rossii 2026 – Ski Track of Russia 2026 – unfolded at the Olympia roller ski track in Belgorod. Ski enthusiasts, ranging from amateurs to seasoned athletes, eagerly hit the slopes. The event featured a variety of races, including amateur 1.6 km sprints and competitive five- and ten-kilometre trials for both men and women.
Among the standout performers was Polina Pshenichnykh, a student from the Faculty of Psychology at the Pedagogical Institute of Belgorod National Research University (BelSU), who clinched victory in the women’s 5 km race for competitors born between 1977 and 2007. She completed the course in an impressive 13 minutes and 40 seconds, securing her place at the top. Darina Petrova, a fellow student from the Physical Education Department, earned a silver medal in the same race.
Reflecting on her performance, Polina expressed her satisfaction with the outcome: “The rainy weather posed a challenge, and my competitors kept me on my toes, but I managed to achieve all my goals for the race. Overall, it was a successful ski race,” she remarked.
The BelSU Students’ Union played a vital role in supporting participants throughout this exciting sporting event. It is important to highlight that the Lyzhnia Rossii 2026 – Ski Track of Russia 2026 – stands as the largest race in the country, welcoming both professionals and amateurs alike.
