In 2026, the Future Technologies Forum, focused on the development of the bioeconomy and the application of biotechnology across various economic sectors, took place at the World Trade Center in Moscow.
Organized by the Roscongress Foundation with support from the Russian Government, this event traditionally attracts high-profile attendees, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, government officials, leaders of major corporations, and esteemed scientists from leading universities and research institutions.
Belgorod National Research University (BelSU) was represented at the forum by Rector Evgeniya Karlovskaya and Vice-Rector for Strategic Development, Science, and Innovation Elena Skripnikova. Participants engaged in discussions about the key objectives of the national project Bioeconomy and explored mechanisms for achieving these goals. The forum also analysed industry trends and forecasts for the development of knowledge-intensive technologies in the bioeconomy, both in Russia and globally.
“The bioeconomy is becoming a pivotal factor in sustainable development, ensuring food security amid climate change and resource limitations,” remarked Nikolai Durmanov, Special Representative of the Russian Ministry of Science and Higher Education for Biological and Environmental Safety.
Rector Karlovskaya shared her thoughts on her Telegram channel, stating, “The bioeconomy is the future, and we are already taking steps toward it. It is vital that BelSU positions itself among those leading the way into this future.”
