The educational event brought together students and faculty from the University’s College of Medicine and the Institute of Pharmacy, Chemistry and Biology.
The roundtable titled Medicines at Home: A Safety Strategy for Family, Travel, and Pets was led by Yulia Dereglazova, Associate Professor of the Department of Pharmacy Management and Economics, and Natalia Bezuglaya, Head of the Pharmacy Educational and Research Complex at Belgorod National Research University (BelSU). The speakers shared practical principles for handling medications responsibly at home.
Dereglazova delivered an engaging overview of key drug safety topics, including proper storage of a home medicine cabinet, choosing medications while travelling, dosing guidelines for children, and pharmacotherapy for the elderly.
A dedicated portion of the session addressed the dangers that common human medications can pose to pets.
Pharmacy students actively participated in the discussion, asking questions and sharing observations about their own home medicine cabinets. The future professionals expressed strong interest in practical algorithms they could apply immediately within their families.
Concluding the lecture, Dereglazova emphasised that medication safety is not merely a set of prohibitions but a conscious culture of health – one that makes every family’s life more peaceful and confident. Participants thanked the speakers for an informative and helpful presentation.
