The ranking, based on 2025 data released by the authoritative international portal, puts the BelSU journal at the very top nationally.
Research Results in Pharmacology, a scientific journal of Belgorod National Research University (BelSU), has taken first place among all Russian publications in the prestigious SCImago Journal & Country Rank for the subject area “Pharmacology, Toxicology and Pharmaceutics.”
The achievement reflects the successful stewardship of the editorial board, led by Professor Mikhail Pokrovsky, and serves as an endorsement of the research quality the journal consistently delivers. Unlike simple citation counts, the SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) weighs the significance of each citation: a reference from a highly regarded journal carries more influence, meaning the metric captures not just activity but genuine scientific impact.
“Our position in the SCImago ranking demonstrates that the scientific community values the work we publish,” said Executive Editor Tatyana Avtina. “We are not merely counting citations; we are being recognized for the weight and relevance of the research we disseminate.”
Alongside its national leadership, the journal holds a firm position in the third quartile (Q3) of the international SJR ranking, placing it among the top global publications in its field by scientific significance. The pages of Research Results in Pharmacology showcase cutting-edge directions in modern pharmacology, from personalized therapy and molecular screening to cellular technologies and evidence-based medicine.
One example is an innovative strategy for combating brain damage in newborns caused by oxygen deprivation and impaired blood flow during childbirth, a topic that has generated considerable interest far beyond academic circles.
The first-place national ranking cements the journal’s role as Russia’s leading platform for publishing breakthrough research with real-world relevance.
