The guests of the celebration, which was held at the Centre for Intercultural Communication, learnt about the specifics of Arabic language and its historical role in knowledge dissemination.
During the event organized to mark the World Arabic Language Day students from the Middle East and North Africa learnt about the features of classical Arabic language and its dialects (Iraqi, Levantine, Egyptian and Maghreb) and introduced the guests to the poetry and folk music of the Arab world by reciting poems by great Arab poets and singing folk songs.
Dmitry Mikulsky from the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences spoke of the beauty and aesthetics of the Arabic language, its historical role in knowledge dissemination and its importance in shaping ideas about the rich and diverse Arab culture, and the national character of Arab people, whom the scholar described as kind, open and decent people.
At the end of the evening Elena Nazarenko, the Deputy Head of Preparatory Department and curator of the Arab Students Community, thanked the guests for participation in the event and congratulated on the occasion.
