The international congress of urologists held in the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan brought together over 850 participants from Russia and 14 foreign countries.
Over 60 congress sessions covered issues of andrology, onco-urology, onco-immunology and genetics, neurourology, reproductive urology, kidney diseases and haemodialysis, inflammatory diseases of the urogenital system, plastic and reconstructive surgery. Live broadcast of robotic, laparoscopic, endourological and implantation surgeries performed on 24 patients was conducted.
The doctoral students and external doctorates from Hospital Surgery Department of BelSU Medical Institute, accompanied by their thesis supervising professor Sergey Shkodkin, participated in the thematic sessions “Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia”, “Infectious and Inflammatory Diseases of Urogenital System”, “Reconstructive and Plastic Urology”, “Oncourology”, “Urogynecology and Functional Urology" and made eight presentations.
The “Urology Education” section, being one of the most important for lecturers of higher education institutions, was dedicated to discussion of the working programme of the “Urology” academic course based on the idea of increasing academic hours from 72 to 144 and credits from 3 to 4.
Another key accomplishment of the congress consisted in the decision to create Eurasian Urology Association, which was made at the suggestion of Professor Pyotr Glybochko, the Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and China agreed to become its founders.
