A BelSU professor give a lecture to the secondary school teaches of Belgorod

Galina Makotrova, a Professor of the Department of Pedagogy, of BelSU Faculty of Psychology, gave a lecture to the secondary school teachers on the topic “A Text in Schoolchildren’s Pilot Study”. The lecture was held via videoconferencing. The scientist presented the results of her simulation experiments, where schoolchildren, while reading texts, mapped their thinking activity, formulated questions in the language of various academic disciplines, memorized the content of the texts by using the picture-to-picture technique and backwards.

The lecturer paid special attention to the risks of extreme use of aids in case of schoolchildren teaching, demonstrated how to develop learning tasks based on popular science texts, talked about the tools of engaging children in formulating questions to a text. She also covered methods of searching answers in the scientific work in case of different cognitive strategies, and presented the guidelines for teachers on the right choice of group and individual forms of work with a text.

The young teachers asked questions related to specifics of the tasks for schoolchildren and touched upon challenges in education in the context artificial intelligence advancement.
