The Pedagogical Professional School of Belgorod National Research University organized an engaging educational event that brought together psychology and pedagogy students from across the Belgorod Region.
This initiative, spearheaded by the Department of Developmental and Social Psychology, attracted active participation from students at Secondary School No. 20 and Education Centre No. 6 “Perspektiva,” both located in Belgorod.
During the event, participants were introduced to a simulated psychological model designed to develop leadership competencies, focusing on various aspects of self-promotion as a leader. The business simulation provided students with a platform to showcase their organizational and communication skills, as well as their ability to plan effectively, work under resource and time constraints, manage stress, and support their peers.
Each team member had the opportunity to take on different leadership roles, including expert leader, emotional leader, charismatic leader, or creative leader, while also practicing how to resist peer pressure and defend their viewpoints. One highlight of the event was the “Joint Drawing” stage, where students demonstrated their willingness to collaborate not only with their teammates but also with members of opposing teams for mutual benefit.
The “Tower Construction” stage challenged students to apply their creative skills by building a “tower” using unconventional materials such as marshmallows, spaghetti, cardboard, and baking pans. This activity fostered group interaction, mutual support, process management, compromise, and the ability to advocate for their ideas while optimizing efforts toward a common goal.
The culmination of the event was the communication game “Disaster in the Desert,” where students practiced collective rescue strategies while showcasing their unique leadership qualities. Throughout the game, professional psychologists from the Department of Developmental and Social Psychology observed the participants.
